Weekly Goals

I fully intended to do this post yesterday, but I was dealing with dr visits and other medical stuff for me. I'm feeling better, but am on prednisone for 10 days to help with my breathing.

Last week I got most of my goals done. I made the laundry soap right after I put the post up. It filled three quart jars. I am thinking of getting a couple more Zote soap bars to fill up the other three quarts I have set aside for the soap.

I am done making tomato sauce, thank goodness. As much as I enjoy eating pasta, I hate the smell of tomatoes cooking. It grosses me out big time. I have almost enough to last us a year, not bad.

I did not get around to making breadcrumbs or croutons. This will be added to my list for this week.

I made a bunch of apple sauce using brown sugar and cinnamon. I normally make mine plain, but I saw this recipe on The Pioneer Woman site that I wanted to try. It was okay, but I am going to change the sugar to white sugar to see if I like it better. It is also thicker than I normally like it, more like an apple butter.

I also dehydrated a bunch of apples, but not all of them. It takes 6 hours to dry them out and I only have the 5 drawer Excalibur dehydrator. I need to get the 9 drawer one, should have got it in the first place, but didn't think I would use all 9 drawers at once.

On to this weeks goals:

1. Change the warm weather clothes out for the cold weather clothes. This is only done with Matt's clothes. We have built in drawers in our room that we keep our clothes in. I also have a dresser in the closet that I keep my winter shirts in. Matt has no room for a dresser in his room, so we keep his dresser in our room. It also holds our tv, so that works. We keep the out of season clothes in a large hamper next to the dresser in case he needs something from it.

2. Make breadcrumbs. I am skipping the croutons this time, mostly because the bread is totally dried out and would make horrible croutons at this point. I am going to grind up all the bread and store them in gallon ziplock bags in our chest freezer in the shed. I have no room in the house chest freezer and no more large containers to put them in.

3. Finish dehydrating apples. I still have one bag of utility apples to dehydrate. It takes time to do this, so it will take a bit. I dry them for 6 hours and because I do not have a timer on my dehydrator (another thing I need to change if I get another dehydrator), I can only dehydrate during the day. What I need to do is get up earlier than 9am to start them that way I can do two batches during the day.

4. Put away all canning equipment. Now that canning season is over for me, it is time to put all my canners, jars and other tools related to canning away. I keep all my canning jars in large clear tubs. I need to replace the cardboard that I have dividing up each level of jars. I also need to find room for my new to me pressure canner. Now I have two pressure canners and one dedicated to boil water bath.

5. Organize kitchen. After a summer of canning and putting things up and cooking, my kitchen is a bit of a mess. We never use the table in it, so it is a collection spot for everything. I need to put all that stuff away and try to keep it cleared off. Maybe use it for homeschooling because we can't fit at it to eat together.

Weekly Goals

It's been awhile since I've done any weekly goals. Bout time I started them up again. I am a planner and tend to get things done if I have goals. Here are this weeks goals.

1. Make laundry detergent. I am seriously low on detergent. I try not to use any store bought stuff, but have bought some if they are on sale and I have coupons for it. But right now, I have nothing. I already have the Zote soap shredded, I just need to mix everything.

2. Can the remainder of the tomato sauce. We had a wonderful tomato harvest this year. I think I have enough to have one pasta dinner a week for the whole year. I am getting sick of cooking the sauce and canning it. I hate the smell of tomatoes cooking. It grosses me out. I love my sauce though.

3. Make croutons and breadcrumbs. I have been blessed with tons of free bread. I have five or six 2 foot loaves of bread all dried out to make bread crumbs with. I also have four loaves that are starting to dry out that I will turn into croutons. I tend to just eat the croutons as a snack. They don't seem to make it into any salads. With soup season upon us though, I will be using them in my soups.

4. Make apple sauce. The hubby and I bought a couple of half bushel bags of utility Mac's from the farm up the street from us. Nothing wrong with the apples other than bruises and blemishes. Fruit is still really good. They sell the utility bags loads cheaper than the normal bags. One bag is dedicated to apple sauce.

5. Make dry apple slices. With the other utility bag of apples, I will be drying them out for snacks during the winter. I eat them like some people eat potato chips. Love them! Last year, I didn't make much, so this year I will be making a bunch.

Weekly Goals

The goals from last week got done pretty early on, so I had more time to work on the quilt for baby Bella. I didn't have much 8th grade books left from Chantelle, but I have almost all for 9th grade. We are still talking about the school issues and homeschooling again. I really hope that the hubby decides to go ahead and let me.

I have my list of gifts to make and buy for the kids in the family. For the ones that are getting gift cards, I will make a little bag to put the cards in. My nieces on the hubby's side get gift cards. They have so many toys and other things that I have no clue what to get them. I tend to buy them one outfit and the gift card so they or their mom can pick out a nice gift. I know, boring, but it is what the moms ask for.

My magazines are neater. I didn't realize how much they took over my house. I am still finding them in little nooks and stuff. In fact, I am looking at a basket right now that has a few of Chantelle's magazines when she was staying here. Those will be tossed in a minute.

My Thanksgiving menu is all planned out and the dessert that I am taking to my sisters is picked out. I will be making a few more to keep here at home for us to eat for the week.

My Advent calendar and the list of activities and Bible readings are almost done. All I need to do is get the garland and when I put it up, I can add the little pockets for the calendar. I can't wait to see how it looks when I am done with it.

Now, on to this weeks goals.

1. Stock up on baking items like flour, chocolate chips, molasses. Also pick up a few turkeys. Now that we have another freezer, I am able to buy and keep a few extra turkeys when I can get them on sale. I also need to make my list of homemade yumminess to gift to the family and neighbors.

2. Continue to clean out shed and move the new chest freezer into it and plug in. We have no room in the house to keep it and I don't want it on the porch, so it is going to move in the shed. It will also be protected from the elements in there too.

3. Clean up the desk area. I have been asking and waiting for the hubby to do this, seeing how the mess is his, but it has been a month and nothing has been done. Soo, I will do it. That way I won't have to complain about the way he does it. This is also the first area you see when you walk into the house, so I have hated to see it so messy. Makes me feel like the rest of the house is a mess too, even though it is not.

4. Move the big bookcase in the living room over. I need to be able to fit the Christmas tree in the corner, so this big bookshelf needs to move over a bit. I also need to figure out a way to attach the tree to the wall, just in case the cats decide to climb it and knock it over.

5. Continue to work on homemade gifts for the family. I don't have much to make this year, unlike last year, so this should be done soon. I also have a few patterns cut out to make toys for the cats.

Weekly Goals

I can't believe that November is here all ready. Where on earth did October go? I swear the days go by faster now that I am no longer working. I did get most of my goals done last week, along with a few that were on the honey do list for the hubby.

I sewed one side of the binding on the blanket and they pinned the other to hand sew shut. This will take me a couple of days or so to do.

All spring bulbs are planted. I even managed to divide them up to be planted into three different areas of the garden. I also got my blueberry bushes last week, so those were planted too.

The venison came to us all wrapped up in nice small meal sized packets. Only issue I had was that I needed to unwrap them to put them in the foodsaver bags to suck the air out of them. The meat was wrapped up in plastic wrap and it was a pain to get off. I made my first meal with the venison last night. It was yummy and the boys gobbled it up big time.

Most of the garden things are in storage. We are looking to get a little shed cabinet thing to put all the shovels, rakes, etc in to keep them here at home. We also need to go through the millions of tomato cages and toss the broken ones.

Ya, so I never managed to work on my bookshelves. One of these days this month I will though.

Now on to this weeks goals:

1. Go through the rest of the homeschool books to see what I have for 8th grade and up. The hubby and I were talking about taking Matt out of school and homeschool him again. I am not liking the changes that the schools are doing up here. Google Core Curriculum to see what I am talking about. Basically it is going to dumb down all the kids and teach all the kids the same way instead of implementing things and alternative work and tests to the kids who need them. Matt has an IEP and has been in need of help with his reading and comprehension of what he reads. The Core Curriculum will eliminate the special education help. I see so many kids falling behind, failing and never making it in the "real world".  Plus hubby said it will be easier to have Matt home because then we can plan our vacations for anytime and not just during the school vacations and I don't have to plan my days around when I have to pick him up from the Homework Club after school.

2. Make up a list of the homemade Christmas gifts to make and make up a shopping list for the things I may need to buy for them. I try to give my kids mostly homemade gifts for Christmas. It is hard now that Matt is older and only really wants video games. He still loves building forts, so my mom is making him a fort building kit for him. Chantelle got mostly bought things this year, but I got them for discounts so that is always good. For the things that I do buy, I pay with cash. We have no credit cards and when we did have them, they only got used to pay for bills. Gifts are always bought with cash so that we never have holiday debt.

3. Now that Halloween is over, I go into holiday mode. I love Thanksgiving and Christmas. I need to plan my meals for Thanksgiving. I am just having dad down this year, but we are all meeting at my sisters for desert, so I need to figure out something to bring. I always make more food than we need to eat. Leftovers are good. Turkeys are starting to go on sale now, and with the additional chest freezer, I am able to grab a few more turkeys and put them in the freezer to eat year long. I will do the same with hams around Easter time.

4. Work on the Advent calendar. Every year we do a little countdown to Christmas. Something different every year. This year I am also adding daily devotions and Bible readings for the whole family. I have a nice list of the Bible readings and bought a Kindle version of a daily devotion. it is for kids, but seeing how Matt had pretty much no religion growing up, it will be good for him.

5. Organize my magazines. I have a ton of subscriptions to magazines. Most I did not pay for, thanks to the Coke Rewards thing that I do. The hubby drinks way to much soda, but I use the codes on the Coca cola products to get points. I save these points to get items or magazine subscriptions. I got Matt a nice 5 in 1 wireless headset for Christmas. A few years ago I got season one of Glee on dvd. The magazines I do pay for are mostly homesteading types. These I want to keep, so I need to toss those that don't apply after I read them and organize the ones I will be keeping in nice binders.

Weekly Goals

It's been a couple of weeks since I did any goals. I've just been winging it but it has been bugging me to not have anything planned. I am a planner by heart. So, here are this weeks goals:

1. Finish the binding on Baby Bella's quilt. The binding and the quilting I do all by hand so it takes a bit. Just hoping my sister in law likes the blanket.

2. Finish planting the spring flower bulbs. We had our first frost the other night and I realized that I really need t o get my butt in gear and get these bulbs planted. My dad bought them for me (and asked me to share with a friend), so I need to get them in the ground for him to enjoy in the spring. I know I will love them too, but I secretly think he got them for himself to see when he visits. hehe

3. Divide the venison up into meal sizes. Hubby shot one deer on his trip to Pennsylvania last week (woot woot). Right now it is at a friend of his house who processes game for a living. After then clean up the meat and make it look like something I will recognize, I want to put it in my foodsaver bags according to a meal so it will be easier to deal with. I have never had venison before, but have been reading a ton and even bought a cookbook on how to cook it.

4. Bring the garden stuff to storage. We live in a mobile home in a small park. We are blessed to actually have a bunch of land here even though we live in a park. But we are only allowed a small shed. Sooo we have a storage unit that we rent so that we can store the bigger things in.

5. Clean up and organize the bookshelves. All of them are a mess. Max took over a shelf in the bookshelf we use to store our shoes and bags, so I need to reorganize it to give him a little spot. Not to mention the ones in the office area are all over the place thanks to Abby, who likes to hide and pounce on Max when he walks by.

My Weekly Goals

I got most of my goals done last week. I still have yet to do anything with the homeschool books I need to sell. Some were never used and others were only used for one year. I think one of the reasons I haven't done anything with them is it finalizes the fact that we no longer homeschool Matt. I miss those days, but I know it would be very hard for me to do now with my RA.

I had to head down to the Apple store to see if I can get Matt's ipod fixed. The nearest store to me is 45 minutes away in Massachusetts. It was no big deal to go down there honestly. Unfortunately, the ipod was not able to be fixed. Something wrong with the insides, basically the motherboard, but I don't think it has a motherboard. Kinda ticked off about this because the ipod is only about 2 years old and cost me almost $400.00.

I also hit the Container Store while there. I needed to get some bins and dividers for a dvd project I am planning for this week.

I took advantage of being down in Peabody to make an emergency appointment to see my primary doctor. I may live in NH, but my doctor is still down in MA. I have been with her since I was 18 and don't want to change, not unless she retires or dies. You can read all about why I had to make the appointment at my other blog, Homesteading With RA.

The yard sale stuff also got packed up and put into our storage room to sell in the spring. I hate having the extra clutter around the house, so it is all put away.

We use to use a side board or breakfast bar as a tv stand. We need something that has a clearance underneath it because of the intake vent on the floor for the heat/ac. When we splurged and got a bigger tv, we had to buy a new tv stand. That took me a bit to find, but I managed it. Instead of putting the bar into storage or selling it, I put it in the kitchen to divide the eat in nook area from the kitchen area. It does make it a little bit smaller and tight, but once the corner table and benches are out of there, it will be nicer. Plus having the extra storage and counter space is very nice.

Now, onto this weeks goals.

1. Quilt baby blanket. My brothers wife is expecting their second child in December. It's a girl, something our family lacks. Each of us seemed to have one girl and then bunches of boys. I saw a cute panel at Walmart for a quilt top. It has 3 butterflies on it, plenty of pink and it is the perfect size for a crib. I have it all put together, just need to hand quilt it. I am praying that my hands will let me. Right now my left thumb is super sore and stiff and I can't move it much.

2. Organize the dvd collection. We have a ton of dvd's and blue rays. Currently they take up 4 shelves of a big bookshelf that is in our living room. I need the room in the bookshelf for books, so I went to the Container Store and bought 4 fabric bins for the dvd's. I also bought a ton of paper sleeves to put the dvd's in, that way I can toss out the big cases. I also have alphabetic dividers so that I can put all the movies in abc order.

3. Hand pictures on the wall. I have 4 large Thomas Kincade pictures, 2 are paintings and 2 are lithographs. Right now they are wrapped in bubble wrap and in a corner of the living room. Well, our kitten, Abby, has discovered that bubble wrap makes noise when popped, so she is constantly after the pictures. Time to put them up on the wall. It's only been 3 1/2 years anyway. LOL

4. Get vertical blinds for living room and kitchen. Abby has totally destroyed our mini blinds. She has a little square cut out of one of the front window blinds so that she can peak out and see us pull into the driveway. Not to mention she has attempted to climb them. Sooo, I need to get something that will not get destroyed by the "terror" as she is called at times.

5. Organize bed room bookshelves and books on the floor on my side of the bed. I have love books and have them all over the house. Most of them are in piles next to my side of the bed. So when I finish with the dvd's, I can put those books on the bookshelf and organize the books on the shelves in my room.

My Weekly Goals

It's been crazy busy here so I never did my goals last week. Things are slowing down a bit, but I am still canning and dehydrating things. I freaked out when I was in the garden earlier and noticed 5 more zucchini and 2 more butternut squash growing! Not to mention my pepper plants have a ton of flowers on them. I think the warm days and cool nights have them thinking it is spring. I was going to dig these plants up this week, but I may wait now.

On to my goals for this week:

1. Get Matt's ipod fixed. I have an appointment at the Apple store in MA (I live in NH) today at 10:30. I am just hoping it is just a battery issue and not going to cost me a ton. When I bought the ipod a couple of years go, it cost me almost 400.00, so it better not cost me a ton to get this thing fixed.

2. Pack up things for the yard sale and other miscellaneous things and put in storage. I hate doing yard sales, that's the hubby's thing, but I have plenty of things to put in the yard sale. Not to mention, Matt has a ton of things to put in it. He is outgrowing most of his toys. He still loves his Nerf stuff and Legos.

3. Take pictures of homeschooling books and put them up on Ebay. I have a ton of things left over from when I homeschooled both the kids. 4 boxes left of things that I need to try to sell to make some money for Christmas. Not to mention, I need the room that they are taking up.

4. Put bar into kitchen and reorganize my kitchen appliances and things. We bought this little side bar table cabinet thing when we first moved in here to use as a tv stand. It's really nice and solid wood. We just bought a new larger tv so I had to get a new stand to hold it. I hate to give this bar away or put it in storage, so I am going to put it in the kitchen to use as a divider between the eat in nook and the kitchen area. We don't eat in the kitchen and the nook area is now my my canning and pantry area.

5. Head to The Container Store while in MA at the Apple store and get the dvd storage boxes. I have a nice big bookcase in my living room that is made from the pews from a church (I think my great grandfathers church but not sure). Three and a half shelves are full of dvd's. Whenever Matt borrows a dvd to watch in his room, he looses the box. Well the boxes are taking up a ton of space that I need badly to store our books that are now all over the place. I bought a bunch of the cd/dvd paper sleeves to put the dvd's in. I just need some pretty boxes to put the dvd's in to store them on the shelves better.

My Weekly Goals

Last weeks goals took a bit to get started. It rained for three days, so I couldn't do any of the outside stuff. I did manage to do them on Saturday though. My flower garden is looking much cleaner and there are two new mums in it. The flower boxes are also planted with some new mums as well. The potatoes are all dug up and the last of the butternut squash is out. I just need to can these.

I put off getting the new pressure canner when I saw a nice Lodge cast iron set on Amazon for 65.00. That is a steel and I have wanted cast iron since I moved out of my dads back when I was 18.

The green beans are all canned. I ended up with just shy of 40 pints of them. I do have some left on the poles, but those are going to stay there to dry so I can save the seeds. The tomatoes did not get done. I am still pulling them out of the garden. This was the year of tomatoes for sure.

I am almost done with my blog planner. I will do a separate post on that.

On to this weeks goals:

1. Can tomato sauce. All the frozen tomatoes are currently sitting in the double sink and counter to thaw out. I have a ton of tomatoes too.

2. Dry onions, basil and parsley. I use these a lot in cooking and hate paying a bunch of money for thosee little jars. Herbs are so easy to grow and much cheaper to do myself. The onions I did buy from the farm up the street. Mine were a flop this year.

3. Can potatoes. I have enough from the garden to can 2 quarts. This was an experiment this year, so I didn't plant many potatoes, so I didn't end up with much. Next year I will plant more and do it a different way than this year.

4. Work on putting up the canning shelves. When a local grocery store went out of business, the hubby and I bought 3 big wire rack shelve sets. One is on wheels, so it can move around.

5. Call my rheumatologist and the vet. I still have my shingles rash and have had to put off my infusion for a week because of it. I really need my infusion (hurting today) so to still have this rash is getting annoying. The kitten is due for a dose of flea and tick treatment. We have seen a couple of fleas on her (all taken off and flushed down the sink with boiling water). So both Abby and Max will need a dose of flea killer.

My Weekly Goals

Whew! This past week was a busy one. Matt's birthday party was a blast and the kids loved the things I made. With all that extra work done, I can get back to focusing on more canning. Fun times.

Last week, I did get almost all my goals done.

I harvested the rest of the corn to be dried for seed. Lots of the ears are small, some are bent. I also got a bushel of green beans that I am still working on putting up. I need another pressure canner badly. Tomatoes are coming in daily, but I have had to freeze them until I can make sauce. The peppers are still growing, so I haven't picked the rest of those. I have a bunch of butternut squash in the house, still on the vine and a bunch given away.

Doing the things needed for Matt's party took up a bunch of time. More than I thought. Such is the life with RA and Fibro. Of course I forgot to take my pain meds on Wednesday, so that put a damper in my plans for Thursday and Friday. I got all his things done though.

Garden bed is still a jungle. I will get to it this week, I swear.

Books got put away, but not as organized as I would like. It will have to do for now.

I didn't even begin redoing my blog planner. I decided to work on my Bible study journal instead.

On to this weeks goals:

1. Put up the rest of the green beans and start to make tomato sauce. I picked up another case of jars today, but I have a feeling I will need more. LOL. Most of the things I can are put in pint jars, with the exception of broths and potatoes.

2. Weed the flower gardens and begin cleaning up veggie garden. The veggies are pretty much done, so the garden needs to be cleaned up. I hate the look of the garden right now. Plants drying up and looking pretty sad. Also plant mums in the window boxes. I love fall time and mums put me in the fall mood. Of course it will be in the 90's Tuesday thru Thursday but then in the 60's on Friday. Gotta love New England weather.

3. Buy a new pressure canner. I have a Presto that I got a couple of years ago as a Christmas gift from the hubby. I am probably one of the only wives that loves to get new kitchen gadgets for gifts. LOL. The Presto canner is a good one but I want one with a pressure gauge. The model that I have does not have one. I have been wanting an All American canner for sometime now but have never had the money to buy one. I have been saving up my money and with this paycheck, I will finally have enough for the 15 1/2 quart model. That one is the perfect size for what I do.

4. Pick the rest of the butternut squash and potatoes. Can both. Also look into other ways to preserve the butternut squash other than canning. Maybe freezing as a puree or in halves.

5. Begin to work on blog planner. I have a few ideas pinned on Pinterest that I like, so I will mix and match to put one together that fits me and what I do.

My Weekly Goals

With today being a holiday (and Matt's 13th birthday), my week is a little messed up. I keep thinking it is Sunday, my day to rest and relax. Today it is pouring out, so nothing to do with the garden or yard is getting done.

Last weeks goals are almost all done. The corn is put up, I canned the beans that I did pick, but now there are more ready to be picked and put up. Squash wasn't quite ready, so that will have to wait for a bit. I took Max and Allegra to the vet. We all know how that turned out for Allegra. Oh well, she is in a better place waiting with Gracie.

This weeks goals are:

1. Harvest more veggies (almost done I think) and put them up. Start to clean up the beds. I hate how my garden looks this time of year. Everything is starting to die off so it looks bad. We got lots of yummy veggies out of it though. I also noticed that we have more peppers starting to grow on the plants. I will give those to my sister when they are ready to harvest. My nephew loves peppers.

2. Finish up Matt's birthday things. Games, pinata and goodie bag things. I had to order some of the things from Amazon, so I had to wait for them to come in. Now that everything is here, I can finally finish the things up.

3. Weed flower beds and reshape. The flower beds are a bit neglected and are in need of clearing the weeds and trimming the grass away from the edges. I also need to reshape the beds as well because of the grass growing.

4. Organize new books that are stacked up next the the bed. I just got a bunch of new books, homesteading, fiction and bible studies, that need a new home in my book shelves. but of course my book shelves are a mess. Need to get those looking better and neater then the new books will have a home to go to.

5. Organize my blog planning binder. It is kinda all over the place and I need better organization for it. I have been enjoying my blog but need to make doing my posts, linking up to parties and a few other things a bit smoother.

My Weekly Goals

I ment to put this up on Monday, but I have been super tired and busy anyway. Let's see, I did get most of my goals from last week done.

I got all the corn shucked and canned. At least all the corn that I was given.

I have not finished decluttering the nook area. it is now full of canning things needing to be put away.

I did get an inventory of the chest freezer. I have so much stuff in there that I didn't know I did. I have 12 packages of hamburger. I usually have like 2. I am going to be "shopping" in my freezer for a few weeks. I need to make room for the deer meat that the hubby will be bringing home from hunting. I have a feeling that we will be buying another chest freezer too. I also organized it a little bit better, but I still need to find a way to organize it much better.

I did finish painting the bathroom, for the most part. I have a few touch up areas to do then it will be all done.

For this week, these are my goals:

1. Harvest and can pole beans. They are finally coming in and there are a bunch on the trellis. I am happy to finally have beans coming in. Never grew pole beans before, only bush beans. These beans are flatter than bush beans, but are much longer.

2. Harvest the rest of our corn. I need to blanch and freeze this corn on the cob and off the cob. It looks so yummy!

3. Begin to harvest the butternut squash. We have been giving some of it away already, but I need to get ours picked and put up. I also need to look up different ways to preserve it other than canning and freezing it in halves and pureeing it.

4. Work on Matt's birthday party things. I need to make the goody bags, the pinata, and the games. His party is in a week and a half, but his birthday is Monday. I am going to have two teenagers soon. Ack!

5. Take the cat and rabbit to the vet. Max is just going for a check up and to get his shots up to date. Allegra on the other hand, is not doing so well. She isn't moving right, seems to have loss of balance. She keeps toppling over whenever she moves (and she doesn't move much anymore). Her head is tilted a bit and I think she is going blind in one eye. She also has lost weight. She has been one spoiled bunny and kinda fat. She is almost 10 years old and has lived a good life. To think that someone threw her out with the trash all those years ago.

So, these are my goals this week. Lots of harvesting and putting up this week. Such is the life this time of year though.

My Weekly Goals

Okay, so the last time I did this was back in the middle of July. between have a RA and Fibro flare for a couple of weeks and a busy time freezing and canning, I haven't made any goals other than my normal every day ones. Now that I am feeling better, it is time to get back to making my goals.

My weekly goals are:

 1. Shuck and remove the kernels from the corn cobs. I was given a few dozen ears of corn and my own corn is coming in, so it is time to get canning and freezing my corn. This is not RA friendly, but I am stubborn and this will not stop me.

2. De-clutter the kitchen nook area. We don't use the kitchen table other than holding my canning stuff at the moment. The table is one of those corner bench deals that was in the place when we moved in. It is too small for us and we tend to eat in front of the tv. I know we are bad, but when your hubby works till late at night and your son doesn't want to eat when you do, it makes no sense to eat at the table. So we are getting rid of it and giving it to my brother.

3. Get an inventory of everything that is in both freezers and the cabinets. With all my veggies coming in from our garden, we are canning and freezing most of it so we have food for the winter. Because of this, I honestly have no clue what we have for food in the house. I need a list of what we have so that I can see what is going out and what I need when making my menu and grocery lists.

4. Organize the chest freezer. I have a love hate relationship with my chest freezer. It holds a ton of food, but because it is a chest freezer, if I want something on the bottom of it, I have to take everything on top of it out.  I also don't know what is where. I want to make it easier to get what I need without defrosting the darn thing every time I get something.

5. Finish painting the bathroom. Yes, this was on my list from last month, but I never got around to doing it. I need to finish it up. I hate having unfinished projects going on. So, the cabinets and mirror frame will get a couple of coats of white paint.

My Weekly Goals

I saw this posting over at Homemaking Organized Blog and thought this was a good idea. She even has a downloadable print out for your weekly goals if you like making lists, like me. I could always have a little encouragement and pushing to get my goals accomplished. I have a hard enough time remembering things as it is, so a little reminder is always welcomed.

 My weekly goals are:

1. Clean and organize crafting/sewing nook in kitchen. It is actually our kitchen table. We don't use it. I know we are bad because we eat where ever and whenever for dinner. When you have a hubby that has no set schedule, you never know when he will be home. He could be home at 3pm or 9pm. Matt is usually not hungry when I am. Weekends we do eat together, but during the week, we don't. So, for the past few years, the kitchen nook has been my sewing/craft area. it is also the biggest catch all for our crap.

2. Finish painting the bathroom. I started this a few weeks ago back when my washer died. My dryer was still good, but I took this opportunity to buy brand new machines. Something I have never had. I have always had very old hand me downs. In fact the one that died was about 19 years old if not a little older. We had the money saved up for these, so it wasn't too much of a big deal. I even gave the working dryer to a friend of mine who's dryer was about to die. While my bathroom (where the washer and dryer are kept) had no appliances in it, I took the time to paint it a new color. I got the walls done but not the cabinets or trim.

3. Make a couple of jars of laundry detergent. Yes, I make my own laundry detergent. Why? Because it is cheaper than buying it from the store. It is easy to make and lasts a long time. It also cleans really well. This is how I make my laundry detergent.

4. Attach hooks to bathroom curtains and sew curtains together.  Our bathroom is missing a wall. When we first moved in, the only way to get our washer and dryer to fit in the bathroom, was to take out the wall to the hallway. Seeing how I am the only girls here and my hubby and son almost never shut the bathroom door when they use it, I figured why not and just hung two floor to ceiling curtains as a "wall". They have worked well for a few years now. I have them pinned together and hanging from a tension rod. Only thing that annoys me is the tabs at the top get stuck on one part of the rod. So I bought some shower hooks to use instead of the tab tops to make it easier to move. I also need to sew the curtains together already. They are just pinned together right now.

5. Air & clean out Matt's camping trunk. Ya, so after a week at Boy Scout camp, Matt's trunk was very ripe. Stinky teenager smell. Not pretty at all. I did take out his clothes the second he got home, but the rest of the things have been sitting there in the closed trunk. Need to get that funk out, just in time for his next week long camping trip with the scouts.
