Wrapping gifts with pets

Everyone who has pets understands how much our beloved pets tries to help us out. Abby is one of those pets. She has to know everything about everything. She has to be part of everything. I love it!

The other day, while wrapping up my nieces and nephews gifts, Abby decided it would be the perfect time to play with the wrapping paper and scissors. I set up on the living room floor because it is big enough to fit the large roll of paper I was working with. Abby started out by laying down on the paper.

She was keeping an eye on the scissors to see what they were doing to the paper. She then set up for the attack, butt wiggle and all.

Then she realized the paper started to roll back up itself.

So she decided to help flatten out the paper by laying all stretched out on it.

I eventually kicked her off so I could get some wrapping done. She started to eat some of the wrapped boxes. Again, it was a gift for Chantelle, sorry. Or was it the gift for Alex, I don't remember. I just remember seeing her nom on the corner so if anyone sees teeth marks on it, Abby sends her love.

The hubby suggested I wrap the gifts in the bedroom on the bed with the door closed. Ya right. Abby sat outside the door, eating it (yes eating the door), until I let her in. We can never keep a bedroom door closed because she will find a way in. So, I started to wrap the gifts again when I turned and saw this.

Perfect bed for Abby apparently. *sigh* I gave up wrapping for the time being and waited until Matt was around to entertain her so she would not be up my butt all the time.

Do you have pets that like to "help" wrap the gifts as well?

Homeschooling with cats

Having pets sure makes your life interesting. Homeschooling with them has its own difficulties.

Today for instance, Abby wanted to sit in Matt's lap. She loves to curl up in his lap while he pets her. Well, his lap was taken up with his English book, so she decided this was an okay spot.

I love how her paws are folded. She kept giving me the stink eye. She wanted her lap back and couldn't until we were done. She then decided to help us finish faster by eating the teachers book.

I'm going to have to put a disclaimer in my Ebay add when I resell the book. Nomed on by a impatient cat. It only has a few teeth marks in it.

Later on, Max decided he wanted to curl up on my lap. He is not a lap cat really, but if he is cold, he will curl up only on my lap or the hubby's lap. This was my view while I was trying to fold socks.

He's part Maine Coon, so he is a big boy. He wouldn't get off my lap even when I was half way up getting off the sofa. Guess he wanted me to shut the window or something. Later on I found him curled up in our printer paper bin. *sigh* Now I know why our paper was furry.

Hunkering down for the storm

Yup, my area is finally getting a storm this winter season. Well, technically winter doesn't start until next week, but who's counting. We have had a dusting here and there, but starting tonight and into tomorrow, my area is expected to get 10-14 inches. I live near the coast (15 minutes inland) so the numbers could go either way.

We are already though. We went to the store to get a few things that we can't grow on our own, like milk, eggs and Diet Coke for the hubby. hehe. We picked up some ice melt today. The boys spent an hour or so picking up the yard of stuff that never got put up and secured things like the trash barrels.

Yesterday I spent a couple of hours wrapping my gifts. Let me tell you, it is a pain to do anything with paper or fabric for that matter with a kitten around. I spent more time picking her up and putting her down or locking her in another room to get anything done. My wrapping time looked like this:

Sorry Kiernan if your gift is fuzzy and ripped, Abby says Your Welcome. hehe

Chantelle, you might want to wash the straw really good. She licked it for you. Making sure it was ok for you.

And she made sure the box was the perfect size for my hubby's shirt. I think it will fit well.

Today, I spent some time cutting out fabric to make us some new stockings. Abby of course had to help, but I didn't have my camera near by. She kept trying to go under the fabric, dive bombing the scissors as I was cutting. I am surprised that she still has her paws. I had just sharpened the scissors today too. Here is the fabric I am using. I got it off Fabric.com. Nice stuff. I have only ordered from them twice, but have been happy with what I have received.

I have a chicken ready to put in the oven to help keep us warm during the storm. Plenty of books to read, laptop, camera and iphone charged, kindle charging, so I am all set. Plenty of warm clothes and blankets in case the power goes out. Not to mention my homemade hot chocolate mix to make.

Tomorrow night we are suppose to have our Yankee Swap at our Boy Scout meeting, but I am doubting that will happen, but we will see. I am surprised I haven't herd anything from the scouts yet. I might have to email them and see.

Well, I'll post some pictures of our snow once it stops and we are able to get out the door. We always get drifts up on our deck and they block the door.

A new family member

I hope everyone is having a fun and enjoyable holiday weekend. Our weekend started out sad with the loss of our rabbit Allegra, but it is now more enjoyable with the addition of a new kitten (who keeps trying to catch the cursor on the laptop monitor as I type).

I have never had a kitten before and oh my goodness is she at bundle of energy. She is 4 1/2 months old. We got her at our local SPCA shelter. She had only been there for one day before we adopted her.

Max does not like her one bit and is mad that she has pretty much taken over his favorite spots, like his basket and spot at the end of our bed. Last night Max was crying out in the living room so much, that my hubby slept out there with him while me and the kitten slept in the bedroom.

So, I would like to introduce little Miss Abby to everyone.

If you can tell, her front paws are double paws. She walks and runs so funny because they are so big compared to the rest of her.
