Snow snow and more snow
Like a lot of people, I am soo sick and tired of all this snow. I keeps reading on my favorite blogs of people already planting in their gardens. I am so jealous. We still have at least a foot of snow on the ground with more possibly in the future. Right now we are over a foot higher than we normally get every winter.
This is the view out my backdoor of the shed. This was after one big and one small snow storm.
If you look closely, you can see that it was snowing once again. A few inches on the roof left and about 10 inches or so on the ground.
What it looked like after the last snow storm. I love how all the snow stuck to the trees. So pretty like that. Not many birds are coming to the feeders right now. The snow is halfway up the pole, so the cats in the neighborhood and reach the birds nicely now. I need to dig the pole out and put some seed on the ground for the ground feeders.
We have a metal roof, so the snow slides off as it melts. Scares the crap out of the cats when it falls though. This was what the overhang looked like after a couple of snow storms. A good foot hanging over. The hubby knocked it down the next morning because this was hanging over the ramp to our deck.
The overhang above the door. I had to make sure not to slam the door or I would be buried in heavy wet snow.
The overhang of snow after the last storm. Look how thick it is! Lots of roofs collapsed after this storm. Hubby knocked this down too because it is once again above the ramp to the deck.
I haven't really even left the house during the past month of so. Just to head to my doctor appointments and to run an errand here or there with the hubby on the weekends. I've been cooped up with the cats all winter long.
I did introduce snow to Abby. She loved it. I made a snowball for her and put it in the tub for her to bat around. She cried for a few minutes once it melted away.
Max and I feel the same way about the snow. So done with it.
I have been sewing a little (needed some new cloth pads for myself hehe) and baking up a ton. I tried a new to me recipe for wheat bread (which is totally awesome and yummy!). While it was on it's second rise in the bread pans, Abby decided she wanted to help. I hate the cats on the counters and the table. They both know it is off limits, but Abby likes to push those limits. When I lifted the towel to see how the rise was coming, I noticed a little something extra in one of the loaves.
See that little indent in the middle bottom of the loaf? Yup, it's a paw print. Of course it made the rise fall, so I had to wait for it to rise again. Thankfully the towel was over the bread (you can see the lines from the towel on the bread too)or I would have thrown away the loaf.
Yesterday was nice and warm and we had a lot of melting going on, but it is suppose to get cold once again and maybe more snow coming by the end of the week. Uggg. This is what I get for living in New England. I love it up here and will never leave, so I better get use to it.

Relaxing and just laying low
I'm still here, but I am just spending a lot of time reading and just hanging out. I've been reading a lot of Amish fiction. Enjoying it too. I am a week behind reading the book Made To Crave. I do need to catch up so I am not too far from the group. I've just been so into reading my other books that I have kinda blown it off. Plus this study is cramming 3 chapters a week plus questions and other things. Hard for me to keep up when my arthritis slows me down. Oh well, I will catch up this week now that I am feeling better.
We got 10 inches of snow a few days ago and it is snowing again, only we are just suppose to get a dusting this time. I am so ready for spring to get here. Coming up fast though.
I ordered all my seeds, tomato and pepper plants. So now of course I have the gardening bug something fierce. There is just something about getting my hands in the dirt that I find soothing. I have been stuck cooped up in the house for 2 months now and bored to death. I am so ready to get busy in the garden.
I've been watching an enjoying the Olympics as well too. I love the all the skating. Some of the skiing is interesting too.
My little ninja cat, Abby, has been keeping me on my toes. She is in a destructive mode recently. She was climbing on top of the curtains in the living room to get Matt's Arrow Of Light award because it has feathers on it. She ate the feathers off my pirate nutcracker. She has been digging in and eating my Christmas cactus. I even put it up high, but apparently not high enough. The plant is starting to look sad. She broke a little humming bird figurine that I had next to the Christmas cactus.
I am leaving you with a few pictures of Abby.
She has this thing for the fridge. She comes running whenever anyone opens it and hops in it.
Enjoying some catnip. She goes bonkers after getting some of this. Max just goes to sleep.
Playing with her monkey. I bought it so that she would leave Matt's alone. She still plays with Matt's as well.

Getting ready for more snow
It seems that everywhere in the states is having a bad winter, between below freezing temps and lots of snow. Mother Nature must be in a really bad mood or something. Living up in New Hampshire,we are use to the cold and snow, but this year it has been a lot harsher. I haven't seen this many below freezing days ever.
Tomorrow we are getting more snow, up to 14 inches. As if that wasn't enough, on Sunday, we are getting another storm. Last I heard, we are expecting to get feet of snow. Uggggg. This will put my hubby out of work for the rest of the winter. Double Ugggg.
I spent sometime outside picking up the yard a little bit and filling up the bird feeders. I sprinkled a bunch of seed on the ground for those birds who prefer to eat away from the craziness of the feeders.
Our little stream had thawed out when we had our "January thaw", but it has since frozen over again. So, our bird friends don't have any drinking water. I have been thinking of putting out some warm water for them everyday.
It seems that one of the neighbors cats has been enjoying our bird feeder. These prints lead from the tree line behind the house, past the feeders and into our garden. Hope not to many birds disappeared. I am so tired of the cold. Really looking forward to the spring.
